MORE ABOUT FENTANYL AND HOW TO AVOID EXPOSURE

ABOUT FENTANYL
The potency of fentanyl has increased since it was first introduced in the 1960s. While there is a 5,000-fold difference between the dose needed to induce pain relief in a patient and a dose that can cause an overdose, even small amounts of illicit fentanyl can cause death.
Fentanyl is a powerful synthetic opioid drug that is 50 to 100 times more potent than morphine and 30 to 50 times more potent than heroin. Just 2-3 milligrams of fentanyl equivalent in size to 5-7 grains of table salt can cause an overdose.
